I traveled to Nara at the beginning of November.
First, let me introduce you to what kind of place Nara is.

11月の初めに奈良に旅行しました。
まず、奈良はどんなところかご紹介しますね。
Location of Nara
Nara City, the prefectural capital of Nara Prefecture, is located about 45 minutes by train from Osaka and about 35 minutes from Kyoto. Despite being a relatively small city with a population of about 360,000, it attracts many tourists from both Japan and abroad as a historic city representative of Japan alongside Kyoto.
奈良県の県庁所在地である奈良市は、大阪から電車で約45分、京都からは約35分の場所に位置しています。人口約36万人の比較的小規模な都市ながら、京都と並んで日本を代表する歴史都市として、国内外から多くの観光客が訪れています。
History of Nara
Nara is a special place that cannot be omitted when talking about Japanese history.
Until the capital was moved to Kyoto in 794, Nara flourished as the center of politics, culture, and Buddhism.
奈良は、日本の歴史を語る上で欠かすことのできない特別な場所です。
794年に京都に都が移されるまで、奈良は政治・文化・仏教の中心地として繁栄しました。
710: Establishment of Heijo-kyo
A city modeled after the Chinese capital "Chang'an" was built, and the system of the ritsuryo state was completed in this Heijo-kyo.
710年：平城京ができた
中国の都城「長安」を模範とした都市ができ、この平城京で律令国家としての仕組みが完成しました。
784: Capital Relocation to Nagaoka-kyo
The capital was moved to the city of Nagaoka-kyo in search of better geographical conditions (water transportation and defense).
Also, burial mounds (tombs) from the late 7th to 8th centuries have been excavated.
784年：長岡京へ遷都
より良い地理的条件（水運・防衛）を求めて長岡京という都市に移転しました。
また、7世紀末から8世紀頃の古墳（お墓）も発掘されています。
I visited the Kitora Tomb Mural Experience Center to see the murals. There, I learned about the story from the discovery of the murals to their excavation.
I was deeply moved by the grand project and the efforts of people who used the best technology to preserve the murals.
私はキトラ古墳壁画体験館で壁画を見てきました。壁画が発見されてから発掘に至るまでのストーリーを、そこで知りました。
壁画を保存するために壮大なプロジェクト、最高の技術を駆使した人々の努力に、胸が熱くなりました。
Nara Tourism: Past and Present
Nara Tourism Was Inconvenient
While Nara has many historical heritage sites, it might be difficult to visit them all at once because the area is very large. For example, the Kitora Tomb is located a bit far from downtown Nara.
Also, until now, they hadn't put much effort into tourism, and these points were inconvenient:
Poor transportation access
Few accommodations
Few restaurants
As a result, many tourists stayed in Kyoto or Osaka and visited Nara only as a day trip.
歴史遺産がたくさんある奈良ですが、とても広いため、一度に回るのは難しいかもしれません。例えば、キトラ古墳は奈良の市内からは少し離れています。
また、今まであまり観光には力を入れておらず、こんな点が不便でした。
交通の便が悪い
宿が少ない
レストランが少ない
そのため、観光客は京都や大阪に泊まり、奈良には日帰りで訪れるというケースが多かったのです。
Beginning to Focus on Tourism
Recently, Nara has begun to focus on tourism. New hotels and restaurants have opened, and evening entertainment has increased with events such as illuminations. The inconvenience of transportation is gradually being resolved with increased tourist bus services.
So, I stayed at a hotel that just opened in September and enjoyed both the old and new Nara ✨👍

最近、奈良は観光に力を入れ始めました。新しいホテルやレストランもでき、ライトアップのイベントなど、夜の楽しみも増えてきています。観光用のバスも増便するなどで、交通の不便さも少しずつ解消しつつあるようです。
ということで、9月にできたばかりのホテルに宿泊し、古くて新しい奈良を満喫してきましたよ✨👍
