My Recommended Throat Lozenges
In winter, supermarket and convenience store candy sections are filled with many kinds of throat lozenges.
冬になると、スーパーやコンビニの飴コーナーでは色んな種類ののど飴が並びます。
This is my recommendation.
私のおすすめはこれ。
It’s not delicious at all, but when my throat feels a little off, sucking on one of these helps.
A coworker gave me one when I was coughing at the office, and I felt it really worked. Since then, I’ve kept some in my desk drawer. Because of that, it seems many people at my company now keep these on hand as well.
決して美味しくはないのですが、少し喉の調子が悪いなぁという時、これを舐めるとマシになります。
会社で咳をしていたら同僚がくれて、効果を感じたので、私も机の引き出しに入れるようになりました。そんな感じで、私の会社では、これを常備するようになった人が多いようです。

A pharmaceutical company surveyed 1,200 people, asking at what body temperature businesspeople would take a day off.
日本では体調悪くても無理して働く人が多いです。
製薬会社が1200人を対象に、ビジネスパーソンは何度の熱で休むかというアンケート調査をしました。
The average answer was 37.8°C！
Before even measuring your temperature, if you feel awful, you should just take a rest 🥹

A Quiet Kindness
Even now, a coworker near me is working while coughing. She came to the office with great effort, trying her best to fulfill her responsibilities.
I can’t bring myself to say things like, “Don’t push yourself—take a rest and recover. You won’t be efficient in that condition, and there’s also a risk of infecting others.”
So instead, I quietly hand her a throat lozenge and say, “Don’t overdo it. Take care.”
今、私の近くでも同僚が咳をしながら働いています。なんとか責任を果たそうと、やっとの思いで出社し、頑張っている彼女に、
「無理せず休んで、早く治そうよ。そんな体調では効率も悪いだろうし、周りへの感染のリスクだってあるよ」
なんて事は到底言えず、
「無理しすぎないでね。お大事に」とそっとのど飴を渡す私でした。
Ah… this is the part of Japanese people that tries too hard, and honestly, I hate it 😭
あぁ、日本人のこういう頑張りすぎちゃう所が嫌い😭
